Hello U11 R3D Families!
What a fantastic way to wrap up the season! We snagged silver at Canal Flats and Stettler, but Esso’s and City’s weren’t on our side, and we had our share of tough moments. But your players never gave up! They committed to keeping up the hard work at practice, setting a new goal: to win our Joust!
After we were knocked out of the playoffs, I asked our players if they wanted to just have some fun and play games for two weeks at practice before the joust, or work hard and become the best version of our team and win gold? It was a resounding yes! The kids were all in for continuing to work hard and winning the joust.
As you know, we went undefeated and won gold at our tournament! But what you might not know is that our team played the last two games of the tournament and season, almost flawlessly. Many of the systems, structure and skills we had been teaching them all year, your players put into action during those two games! You should all be very proud of your players for how far they’ve come this season, as I know we coaches are!

These have been our team’s core values all year long, and as a coaching staff, we’ve done our best to instil these core values in the team culture and help these young athletes grow both on and off the ice. I feel like we’ve navigated a few challenges along the way, but ultimately, as this season comes to a close, we’ve achieved our goal.
Teamwork
Hockey is a TEAM sport. I feel we played our best TEAM hockey in the last two games of the season, which resulted in a gold medal! This group truly played for one another, the crest on the sweater and not the name on the back!
Year End Party:
Thank you Dwayne and Sheena for putting on such a fun event at Splittsville! The bowling, mini putt and game cards made for a great final team bonding event on the eve of our gold medal!

We’ll still be sending out some messages throughout the spring and summer as families and players keep in touch during the offseason. No pressure to stay connected or respond!
