A Hole-in-One for Team Bonding: U11 Knights R3D Trade Sticks for Clubs at LaunchPad Golf
Calgary, AB – October 3, 2025 – The ice-rink rivals of the U11 Knights R3D Hockey Team traded their skates and sticks for golf shoes and drivers this past Friday for a fantastic team-building event at LaunchPad Golf. These Hockey athletes spent an evening proving that their teamwork is just as sharp off the rink as it is on it.
The evening was a huge success, filled with laughter, friendly competition, and a whole lot of unexpected golf talent. LaunchPad, with its climate-controlled suites and interactive Toptracer technology, provided the perfect setting for the kids to let loose and connect outside of hockey drills.
Swinging for the Fences (and Targets!)
The players were split into smaller groups, rotating between different game modes that kept the energy high. While some were mastering the art of the golf swing, others were strategizing in the high-tech, target-focused games.
"It was awesome to see them cheering each other on, even when they were on different mini-teams for the evening," said Manager Dwayne Wallace. "The roar from the bay when one of the kids hit a long drive was just as loud as a goal celebration. It really shows the great camaraderie we have on this team."
Coach Chris Ferrier noted the value of the non-hockey setting. "Hockey is intense, and sometimes these young players need a different environment to just be kids together. Watching them teach each other the golf grip, or console a teammate after a swing-and-a-miss—that’s where the real team chemistry grows. They’re building trust and friendships that will carry onto the ice."
Growth Beyond the Game
The focus of the event was clearly on growing closer. Without the pressures of a regular-season game, the Knights R3D players got to know their teammates on a new level. From sharing plates of snacks to comparing their longest drives, the relaxed atmosphere fostered a fun, unified spirit.
The night concluded with happy, tired kids, and a team bond that is visibly stronger. As the Knights U11 Division 3 team looks ahead to their next slate of games, they will be taking with them more than just improved golf swings; they’ll be taking a deeper connection that is sure to make them a force to be reckoned with this season.
It was a brilliant way to kick off the heart of the season, reminding everyone that while the game of hockey is important, the friendships and life skills gained through minor sports are what truly matter. Go Knights Go!
