Knights R3D END Seeding Round With Jacob’s Shutout Masterclass
Cardel Ice 2, November 16, 2025 — The U11 Knights R3D closed out their seeding round in spectacular fashion, blanking the Southwest Cougars 3 Gold with a 2–0 victory. The star of the show? Goaltender Jacob Gordon #31, who turned away every shot to earn a well-deserved shutout and secure the Knights’ momentum heading into the next phase of the season.
Defensive Dominance
From the opening puck drop, the Knights R3D defensive play from the whole team was relentless. Jacob Gordon #31 stood tall between the pipes, stopping all 6 shots he faced over a full 39 minutes of play. His calm presence and quick reflexes frustrated the Cougars’ forwards, who simply couldn’t find a way past him. The Knights’ blue line, anchored by players like Samuel Corkum #11 and Roarke Kerr #19, kept the Cougars to the perimeter and limited high-danger chances.
Third Period Breakthrough
After two scoreless periods, the Knights broke the deadlock in the third. At 8:17, Alyan Jiwa #8 skated end to end and found the back of the net, putting the Knights ahead. Just minutes later, Finley MacDonell #16 doubled the lead with a clutch goal assisted by Parker Curley #9. The Knights’ offense came alive when it mattered most, capitalizing on their opportunities and putting the game out of reach for the Cougars.
Team Effort Shines
While Jacob’s shutout was the headline, this win was a true team effort. The Knights’ forwards pressed hard, with Parker Curley #9 adding a key assist. Notable efforts from the entire team, Alston Ferrier #10 had 5 shots and Aydin Jiwa #13 was 7 for 10 on the faceoff dot. The defensive unit kept penalties to a minimum and played disciplined hockey throughout. The coaching staff had the team prepared and focused for this crucial matchup.
